Mondia, a Filipino breast cancer patient who has battled the disease for nearly eight years, had undergone various treatments including surgical resection, medication, and natural therapies. However, her condition continued to progress. This year, she finally achieved promising results at Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou through integrated minimally invasive treatments such as interventional therapy and Combined Knife, with both her primary and metastatic cancer cells rendered inactive.

First Encounter with the Illness: From Fear to Surgery

In 2018, Mondia from the Philippines discovered a lump in her left breast. Her vigilance led her to seek immediate medical examination. The biopsy result came as a bolt from the blue—she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was plunged into deep distress and anxiety, haunted by the thought, "I don't have long to live." Bolstered by her faith and the support of her husband and family, she found the courage to follow her doctor's advice and undergo surgical removal. However, due to her existing hyperthyroidism, a full mastectomy was not feasible. After medication management, she ultimately underwent a local excision of the left breast lump. Concerned about aggressive treatments and potential side effects, she declined radiotherapy and chemotherapy post-surgery.

Disease Recurrence: Exploring Natural Therapies

As her body gradually recovered after the surgery, Mondia began to emerge from the shadows. However, one year later, a lump reappeared in the same location of her left breast, accompanied by pain. The examination results delivered a harsh verdict: her cancer had recurred, with a tumor measuring 2.1 cm. Faced with this setback, Mondia opted to try gentle natural therapies. Unfortunately, the results were not significant. Over the following years, she sought treatment in multiple locations. As her condition progressed slowly, she primarily relied on a combination of natural therapies, endocrine treatment, and nutritional support to manage her illness.

The Condition Worsens: Embarking on the Journey to Guangzhou for Treatment

By February 2025, Mondia's condition took a sharp turn for the worse. The lump in her left breast had invaded the skin, causing persistent pain in her chest and back. In search of more effective treatment, she decided to travel to China and seek care at Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou. She had actually first heard about the hospital from her husband's colleague back in 2019, but the trip did not materialize due to the pandemic. Now, with her illness advancing and after exhausting other treatment options, she felt it was "divine guidance" that finally led her onto this path of hope.

Precision Treatment: Integrated Minimally Invasive Treatment Brings a Turning Point

Upon admission on May 8, Mondia's left breast tumor measured 3×4 cm and had invaded the adjacent skin. On the third day of hospitalization, a needle biopsy confirmed the diagnosis as stage IV left breast malignant tumor, HER2-positive, with multiple metastases in the mediastinum and right pulmonary hilum. The hospital's multidisciplinary team (MDT) developed a personalized integrated minimally invasive treatment plan for her, combining Combined knife ablation, interventional therapy, and adjuvant traditional Chinese medicine treatment.

On May 12, Mondia underwent Combined knife ablation therapy to reduce the tumor size. On May 17, she received percutaneous arterial infusion chemotherapy plus embolization under local anesthesia. These treatments were designed to rapidly control tumor progression and alleviate related symptoms. Within days after the Combined knife therapy, the pain in her back significantly diminished, and the tumor gradually hardened and receded. Although she experienced brief pain and dizziness following the Interventional  therapy, she returned to normal quickly.

Renewed Hope: Marked Improvement and Restored Confidence

After completing the second treatment cycle, a follow-up CT scan at her local hospital revealed significant shrinkage of the breast tumor and the disappearance of most lung metastases. These remarkable results rekindled her hope—what she once believed was an insurmountable battle now seemed winnable at Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou.

Grateful Sharing: Spreading Hope Through Personal Experience

During the interview, Mondia appeared relaxed and had a healthy glow, showing no signs of being a cancer patient. The devout Christian repeatedly expressed that it was God's guidance that led her to this technologically advanced hospital. She shared emotionally, "They have a professional medical and nursing team here, along with thoughtful translation services." What touched her even more was that her first admission coincided with her birthday, and the carefully prepared cake by the staff brought her immense surprise.

From the considerate arrangements by the Manila office to the various value-added services after admission, every detail made her feel deeply cared for. Mondia reflected that in the past, her resistance to aggressive treatments and severe side effects had led her to choose conservative therapies. Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou fulfilled her expectations—she experienced no severe reactions like vomiting or weakness after the treatments. She expressed her willingness to recommend this hospital to more patients and encouraged them: "Face the illness with a positive mindset, and believe that you can be cured."
