From Harvard Medical School to becoming one of China's first physicians working with large-scale radiotherapy equipment (LA), Professor Wang Ligen has dedicated 40 years to advancing radiotherapy from an auxiliary discipline to a pioneering field led by neutron technology. He overcame challenges in cervical cancer treatment through californium-252 afterloading therapy, using minimally invasive techniques to reduce suffering for patients worldwide. By providing multilingual services, he transcended national boundaries, and through academic exchanges, he built a life-saving bridge between China and Southeast Asia. His tireless medical journey, working day and night without rest, aims to transform the lament of "delayed treatment" into the dawn of "healing toward life"—this exemplifies the compassion of Chinese healthcare. As he stated, "Treatment is not merely about technology; it is about reverence for life."
