On August 4, prior to the opening of the 2025 ASEAN International Integrative Oncology Medicine Session • Malaysia, a delegation including Professor Zhang Fujun , Director of CACA “Belt and Road” International Training Co-construction Unit (Guangdong) from Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center; Mr. Lin Zhicheng, President of Stamford International Medical Group; Mr. Lin Daoxuan, Vice President and Medical Director of Stamford International Medical Group; Mr. He Langbing, Director of International Affairs at Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou; Professor Song Shijun and Professor Wang Ligen, minimally invasive oncology experts; and Mr. Yang Zhihong, Manager of Malaysia International Service Center, visited KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 in Malaysia.

The purpose of this exchange activity was to strengthen in-depth cooperation between China and Malaysia in the field of oncology diagnosis and treatment and promote the regional dissemination and localization of the integrated medicine concept. As one of Malaysia’s leading private medical institutions, KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 is affiliated with the KPJ Healthcare Group. It is the first hospital in Malaysia to join the Mayo Clinic Care Network, representing the advanced level of high-end medical services in the country. The hospital has been continuously deepening reforms in areas such as multidisciplinary cancer treatment, radiotherapy, patient-centered humanistic services, and international collaboration mechanisms, striving to build a cancer treatment system in line with international standards.

Accompanied by representatives from the hospital, our expert delegation toured key areas including the overall hospital environment, the oncology clinic area, the inpatient ward, the physiotherapy department, and the CT room. They gained an understanding of the hospital’s service layout and facility configuration in cancer diagnosis and treatment, auxiliary examinations, and rehabilitation care. In-depth discussions were held on topics such as the integrated medicine concept, patient management systems, the application of minimally invasive techniques, and transnational teleconsultation mechanisms. During the visit, both sides unanimously agreed that against the backdrop of increasingly deepening medical cooperation between China and Malaysia, resource sharing should be strengthened to promote the mutual exchange and learning of high-quality clinical experiences.

This on-site visit was one of the important pre-forum visits conducted by our hospital before the ASEAN Oncology Forum. It provided a valuable opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the local medical system in Malaysia and grasp regional oncology diagnosis and treatment practices. It also further broadened the international perspective of our hospital’s integrated medicine concept. By observing the environmental facilities and service processes of KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 firsthand, the expert delegation gained practical insights in areas such as patient management, humanistic care, and imaging support, laying a foundation for subsequent broader medical exchanges with ASEAN countries.

This cross-border exchange activity also injected practical cooperation foundations and international collaborative momentum into the 2025 5th ASEAN International Integrative Oncology Medicine Session • Malaysia, which was scheduled to be held on August 5. As the organizer of this forum, Guangzhou Modern Cancer Hospital has always adhered to the diagnosis and treatment philosophy of “integration, minimally invasive, and humanistic care,” and is committed to promoting academic communication and collaborative exploration in cancer prevention and treatment between China and Malaysia, as well as across the ASEAN region.

In the face of the increasingly severe global challenge of cancer, the concept of integrated medicine offers a new solution for regional collaboration and resource sharing. In the future, Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou will continue to uphold an open, inclusive, precise, and pragmatic stance, play a bridging role in “taking integrated medicine abroad,” continuously enrich the scope and influence of the “Chinese integrated medicine solution,” and join hands with international peers to jointly paint a new vision of borderless cancer control.
